Richard Conroy (Treasurer)

Originally from County Down, Richard Conroy now works in Washington D.C. for the National Institutes of Health as the Director of the Division of Applied Science and Technology and as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Maryland University College. Before his current position, Richard was a NIH-NIST fellowship working on the multimodal imaging, tracking and manipulation of nanoparticles. He originally left Bangor to go to the University of St. Andrews for an undergraduate and doctorate degree in physics and a marginal improvement in his golf handicap. After that Richard took advantage of a Humboldt Research Fellowship to work at the Universitat Konstanz for two years before working as a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University.

Richard has published more than forty scientific articles and several book chapters on subjects ranging from online education to wearable technologies and the taxonomy of human cells. He also holds master degrees from Harvard University Extension School in Biotechnology and the University of Maryland University College in business administration and international management.
